Digitalisation in Erasmus Mundus

Auguste Dardel • 7 October 2026

How can digital solutions support Erasmus Mundus programmes in practice? Which approaches are already being used, and what can programmes learn from one another? These questions were at the centre of the thematic webinar “Digitalisation in Erasmus Mundus Programmes”, held on 30 September 2026. The webinar brought together over 180 participants from across the Erasmus Mundus community and beyond, providing a forum for exchange and peer learning on digitalisation.

The webinar concluded a broader consultation process carried out under the Erasmus Mundus Support Initiative (EMSI). Over the preceding months, an online consultation, a focus group and an interactive session gathered perspectives and experiences from the Erasmus Mundus community. Two areas emerged as priorities: digital solutions and approaches for joint selection, admission and enrolment, and for learning, teaching, assessment and recognition. These findings were consolidated in the publicly available State-of-Play Report on Digitalisation in Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Programmes, which provided the analytical basis for the webinar.

Building on these findings, the webinar focused on practical experiences. Representatives from the Erasmus Mundus community and other stakeholders presented examples of digital solutions and approaches specifically related to selection, admission and enrolment, as well as to learning, teaching, assessment and recognition. Participants were able to ask questions, compare experiences and consider approaches that may be relevant in other programme contexts.

The webinar also considered the wider European context for digitalisation and interoperability. A dedicated session explored links with the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) and the European Digital Education Hub (EDEH), connecting programme-level experiences with European initiatives supporting digital cooperation and student mobility. Across the webinar, participants pointed to a need for more coordinated approaches, including common solutions for application and selection, interoperable systems and shared data, as well as affordable tools.

The webinar materials and further information are available in the members-only section of the Erasmus Mundus Community (EMC) platform. The community is invited to continue this exchange, and to share further experiences and ideas on digitalisation through the EMC platform and future activities.
