Overall goals

Our alliances—Una Europa, FilmEU, and ERUA—aim to strengthen cross-institutional collaboration by advancing the implementation of interoperable digital credentials and microcredentials for students and staff. This will ensure secure, verifiable, and standardized data exchange across our universities. By joining the Early Adopters programme, we seek to pilot these solutions and contribute to shaping a unified, scalable framework for higher education institutions across Europe.

Use Cases

Earn a credential (Use Case 6)

Baseline:

Una Europa, FilmEU, and ERUA together bring together more than 50 universities across 15+ European countries, representing over 800,000 students. The alliances are collaborating to deploy interoperable digital credentials and microcredentials to enhance collaboration and ensure secure, verifiable, and standardized data exchange.

Goal:

Over the next six months, we aim to issue and verify educational credentials for students and staff across Una Europa, FilmEU, and ERUA partner universities. We will implement verifiable transcripts of records for exchange students, enable access to learning environments using verified credentials, and pilot microcredentials for short courses and workshops. We will also explore issuing verifiable European Student Cards. All activities will be carried out using the EBSI framework, ensuring secure, standardized, and interoperable digital solutions across the alliances.

Work plan:

Educational ID Proof of Concepts (PoC):

1. Una Europa
   1. Issue verifiable EducationID credential for students and staff at KU Leuven and Unibo, both members of the Una Europa alliance.
   2. Issue verifiable AllianceID credential for students and staff at KU Leuven and Unibo, both members of the Una Europa alliance.
   3. Issue verifiable Transcript of Records for exchange students between KU Leuven and Unibo to strengthen collaboration.
   4. KU Leuven: Issue verifiable credential for course credit proof upon completion.
   5. Unibo: test verification of EducationID credential for access to the Una Europa exchange portal.
   6. FUB: test verification of EducationID credential for access to the Una Europa Learning Environment.
2. FilmEU

   3. Issue European Student Card in a verifiable credential format.

3. ERUA
