On May 10th, the Delegation of the European Union to the Dominican Republic hosted its annual Open Day, a lively event that celebrated the diversity and shared values of EU member states. Among the many activities held throughout the day, a standout presence was the Erasmus+ Programme stand, coordinated and promoted by Celeste Castillo Roa, the Erasmus+ National Focal Point (ENFP) for the Dominican Republic.
Celeste played a central role in organizing the Erasmus+ outreach during this event. She ensured that the stand provided clear, accessible information about study, research, and academic exchange opportunities in Europe. Her efforts were focused not only on logistical preparation but also on actively promoting the Erasmus+ stand through social media and institutional emails. Thanks to her outreach, the event welcomed a diverse range of visitors, including representatives from Dominican universities and students eager to explore higher education options in Europe.
The stand served as a hub for conversation, idea-sharing, and networking. Many attendees walked away with a better understanding of the Erasmus+ Programme and its benefits for both individuals and institutions in the Dominican Republic.
Highlighting Opportunities in Global Sustainability and Cooperation
In addition to the EU Open Day, Celeste also led promotional efforts for the conference:
“Improving Global Sustainability through the European Green Deal and Global Gateway: Opportunities for International Collaboration in Erasmus+ (LAC).”
This event brought together stakeholders from across Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss how the Erasmus+ Programme can contribute to global challenges such as sustainability, climate action, and innovation. Celeste not only participated but also invited local partners to attend, helping strengthen the visibility of Erasmus+ in strategic academic and policy discussions.
A Growing Bridge Between the Dominican Republic and Europe
The Erasmus+ Programme continues to play a critical role in fostering academic exchange, institutional cooperation, and cultural understanding between Europe and the Dominican Republic. Through her role as ENFP, Celeste Castillo Roa has been instrumental in making these opportunities visible and accessible to Dominican students, researchers, and universities.
EU–Dominican Republic cooperation in education is grounded in mutual interests: expanding access to quality learning, promoting sustainable development, and building global partnerships. By connecting Dominican talent with European institutions, Erasmus+ contributes to the personal and professional growth of young people and the long-term development of the country’s higher education sector.
Celeste’s commitment and coordination continue to open doors for Dominican stakeholders in the international education arena. Her work not only increases participation in the Erasmus+ Programme but also strengthens the foundations of collaboration between the Dominican Republic and the European Union.
