Maria Giovanna Cordero, the Erasmus+ National Focal Point for Panama, has been a pivotal figure in promoting the programme’s opportunities. By fostering collaboration and building capacities within Panama’s higher education and vocational training sectors, Maria Giovanna has strengthened the foundation for international partnerships and educational growth.

Training and Technical Assistance Workshop for Project Formulation

One of her most notable initiatives took place in September 2024: a three-day training and technical assistance workshop hosted at the premises of SENACYT (Secretaria Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología) in Panama City. This event targeted representatives from higher education institutions and vocational training centers across Panama, aiming to equip them with the skills to draft conceptual notes for Erasmus+ initiatives, specifically Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) and Capacity Building in the Field of Vocational Training.

Highlights of the Workshop

  • Participation: The workshop welcomed 105 representatives from various Panamanian universities and vocational training centers.
  • Objective: To produce a significant number of well-crafted proposals for the upcoming 2025 Erasmus+ Call.
  • Guidance: Selected projects will receive ongoing guidance and technical support to ensure their success.

Impact on Networking and Collaboration

The workshop served as an extraordinary platform to strengthen networks among local higher education institutions. Participants not only gained valuable insights into project formulation but also deepened their understanding of the benefits of the Erasmus+ programme. The connections formed during this event are expected to enhance collaboration and drive the successful implementation of projects that align with Panama’s educational priorities.

A Vision for Growth

Maria Giovanna’s efforts have been instrumental in aligning Erasmus+ initiatives with Panama’s national goals for education and innovation. By empowering institutions to participate in international programs, she has paved the way for academic excellence and global partnerships that will benefit Panama for years to come.
