From February 4-6, 2025, Brussels became the hub of global educational collaboration around the Erasmus+ program, as Erasmus+ National Focal Points (ENFPs), International Contact Points (ICPs), and National Erasmus+ Offices (NEOs) gathered for the NEO–ICP–ENFP Meeting 2025. Organized by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), this event was a key initiative to strengthen international collaboration and advance the global impact of the Erasmus+ program.
A Landmark Gathering for Erasmus+ Global Ambassadors
For a second time, all ENFPs from around the world came together in one location to learn more about their roles and receive in-depth training on the Erasmus+ programme. This strategic gathering underscored the commitment of the EU to foster global education opportunities and promote cross-regional cooperation. The event was a melting pot of ideas, experiences, and innovative strategies to maximize the impact of Erasmus+ worldwide.
Event Agenda Overview
Day 1: Tuesday, February 4, 2025
The first day was dedicated to parallel meetings and training sessions tailored to the needs of ICPs, NEOs, and ENFPs:
- ICP Meeting: Discussions focused on increasing visibility for the international dimension of Erasmus+, promoting project opportunities, and exploring the future of international mobility and institutional cooperation.
- NEO Meeting and Training: Led by Bodo Richter (EACEA) and Antoaneta Irikova (DG EAC), this session provided an overview of NEO activities, communication strategies, and policy updates.
- ENFP Meeting and Training: This session emphasized reflection, renewal, and advancement for ENFPs. Workshops included mentoring, coaching, event planning, and maximizing the use of the ENFP Community Website.
The day concluded with bilateral meetings and a networking event, setting the stage for productive collaborations.
Day 2: Wednesday, February 5, 2025
The second day featured a plenary session with influential speakers, including Sophie Beernaerts (EACEA), Filip Van Depoele (DG EAC), and Agnieszka Skuratowicz (DG INTPA). The focus was on the strategic role of Erasmus+ in international cooperation, supporting education through the Global Gateway initiative, and advancing policy agendas.
A panel discussion on “Building Skills through Erasmus+” showcased diverse perspectives from Latin America, North Africa, and Europe, emphasizing the program's transformative impact on skills development worldwide. The day ended with a visit to the European Parliament, providing participants with insights into EU policymaking.
Day 3: Thursday, February 6, 2025
The final day facilitated regional group meetings, enabling targeted discussions and strategic planning for different regions, including Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East, Pacific, and Sub-Saharan Africa. An “Open Forum” on Erasmus+ actions allowed participants to share insights, challenges, and best practices, fostering a spirit of global collaboration.
Erasmus+ Impact on Latin America and the Caribbean
The Erasmus+ program has been a beacon of opportunity for students, educators, and institutions across different regions worldwide, including Latin America and the Caribbean.
