Empowering Panamanian Talent: Giovanna Cordero and the Nationwide Promotion of Erasmus+
The Erasmus+ National Focal Point (ENFP) in Panama, Giovanna Cordero, continues to take bold and innovative steps to bring the opportunities of the Erasmus+ Programme closer to students and professionals across the country. Through strategic collaborations and a strong commitment to inclusive outreach, Giovanna has been instrumental in raising awareness of the Erasmus+ actions—particularly the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM)—among Panama’s young talent.
One of the most exciting recent developments is the partnership with the Erasmus Mundus Association (EMA) Country Representative for Panama. Together, they held a virtual meeting to coordinate efforts in promoting the EMJM action. This collaboration has already borne fruit with the launch of a new project:
"Erasmus Mundus Mentoring: From Panama to the World."
This innovative mentoring programme, recently awarded funding, aims to support prospective EMJM applicants across all provinces of Panama. Designed as a fully virtual initiative, the programme removes barriers related to geography and accessibility, ensuring that the opportunities offered by Erasmus Mundus can truly reach every corner of the country.
The programme will select two participants per province, either professionals or recent graduates, resulting in a total of 20 mentees. This representative and inclusive approach will not only ensure broad national participation, but also maximize the project’s impact by encouraging diversity and equal opportunity.
Through this initiative, Giovanna Cordero and the EMA team are providing targeted guidance and information to aspiring Erasmus+ candidates, addressing their questions, and supporting them throughout the application process. The project is a strategic step toward expanding Panama’s participation in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters action and ensuring a more equitable and accessible promotion of Erasmus+ opportunities.
This is yet another inspiring example of how Erasmus+ National Focal Points are working on the ground to bring the values of international cooperation, academic excellence, and inclusion to life. Thanks to Giovanna’s leadership, the Erasmus+ programme continues to grow in visibility and relevance in Panama—paving the way for new generations of global learners.
Stay tuned for more updates from the Erasmus+ National Focal Points across Latin America and the Caribbean as they continue to empower communities through education, exchange, and collaboration.
