In a concerted effort to promote internationalization and enhance the capacity of higher education institutions (HEIs), Ecuador’s Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senescyt) and the Ecuadorian Corporation for Research and Academia Development (CEDIA)—the country’s National Focal Points (ENFPs) for Erasmus+—have taken the lead in disseminating and supporting opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ program.

Thanks to their outreach and training efforts, a remarkable total of 42 inquiries from 14 Ecuadorian universities and members of the public have been submitted for assistance regarding the 2025 Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) and Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) calls. These inquiries reflect a wide range of activities, including:

  • Building and establishing strategic partnerships.
  • Identifying funding calls aligned with institutional goals.
  • Addressing questions about navigating the official Erasmus+ platform.
  • Providing guidance on completing application forms.
  • Outlining specific requirements for available scholarship programs.

This collaborative work between Senescyt and CEDIA has proven essential in addressing these needs, highlighting their commitment to fostering academic development and international engagement. By providing tailored support, they enable Ecuadorian universities and citizens to expand their horizons, access European resources, and pursue opportunities that promote innovation, cultural exchange, and continuous improvement in higher education.

Seizing Opportunities for Growth

The Capacity Building in Higher Education 2025 call presents an invaluable chance to strengthen institutional capabilities and encourage joint projects with global impact on Ecuador’s academic communities. Similarly, through the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master program, Ecuadorian citizens are offered life-changing scholarships to pursue advanced studies in European countries, broadening their professional horizons and achieving their career aspirations.

Empowering Ecuadorian Universities

The support provided by the National Focal Points is pivotal in equipping Ecuadorian universities and stakeholders to face global challenges and fully leverage the opportunities offered by Erasmus+. These efforts are paving the way for a more connected, innovative, and internationally engaged higher education system in Ecuador.

With initiatives like these, Ecuador continues to position itself as a key player in fostering global collaboration and excellence in higher education, reaffirming its commitment to creating opportunities for academic and cultural exchange that drive development and innovation.
