Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) International hosted a highly engaging Erasmus+ Information Session on 13th January 2025, featuring Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, Erasmus+ National Focal Point (ENFP) for Malaysia as the esteemed speaker. The session provided a valuable platform for researchers and academic staff at UTHM to explore the vast opportunities within the Erasmus+ programme, drawing an audience of 73 participants, including staff and students.
The session commenced with opening remarks from Prof. Ts. Dr. Rabiah binti Ahmad, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), setting the stage for an insightful discussion. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, who elaborated on the role of Erasmus+ National Focal Points (ENFPs), funding opportunities for Malaysian institutions, and effective strategies for preparing successful project proposals.
Dr. Ariffin provided in-depth insights into the Erasmus+ programme, ensuring participants were well-informed about the latest updates for 2025. He also offered valuable guidance on crafting strong Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) proposals, stressing the importance of integrating Global Gateway elements to enhance proposal competitiveness.
The Erasmus+ Info Session at UTHM successfully sparked participants' interest in leveraging Erasmus+ funding and collaboration opportunities. Malaysia's active engagement in Erasmus+ aligns with the higher education internationalization agenda, recently emphasized by YBhg. Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir. This strategic focus reinforces Malaysia’s commitment to global academic collaboration and strengthens its position as a hub for world-class education.
