The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) organised an event titled "National Information Day" within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme. This took place in cooperation with the European Union, the European Commission, and the Directorate General of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture, to highlight the opportunities available under the programme. These opportunities include research funding, study in Europe, student exchange, and internship programmes.
Eng. Waleed Roy, Acting Head of the Office of Partnerships and Scientific and Technological Agreements, explained that the Erasmus+ programme has a history of more than 30 years of EU-funded support, which has allowed more than 4 million students to study, train and gain experience abroad. He pointed out that the new opportunities for the programme have been available to organisations and individuals in the Gulf region since 2022, in addition to countries such as the Republic of Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Republic of Sudan. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive guidance on how to take advantage of these opportunities and how to apply for funding.
During this event, many important points were discussed to introduce students to available opportunities, as it highlighted the possibility of participation for students of any nationality studying in accredited universities in the State of Kuwait. The discussions also touched on the details of student exchange between universities, which range from a few weeks to one year, in addition to explaining the application steps and answering students' inquiries.
It is worth noting that organising this event comes as part of the Institute's efforts to achieve one of its main objectives: encouraging younger generations to practice scientific research and engage in international academic activities, reflecting the importance of the Erasmus+ programme as a tool to promote education and international cooperation.
