(JANUARY 2025) The ICETEX, the newly appointed Erasmus+ National Focal Point for Colombia, hosted its inaugural webinar aimed at promoting the Erasmus+ program. This event marked a pivotal moment for the program's expansion in Colombia, with a focus on presenting the various opportunities the European Union offers to support mobility and strengthen higher education in the region.

The webinar attracted over 100 representatives from the Oficinas de Relaciones Internacionales (ORIS), the international relations offices of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Colombia. These participants were provided with a comprehensive overview of Erasmus+ actions, including student and staff mobility, partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives within the higher education sector.

The session offered a unique opportunity for Colombian universities to connect with the EU’s educational initiatives, enhancing their international outreach and fostering collaboration with European institutions. By showcasing Erasmus+ as a transformative tool for the future of education in Colombia, ICETEX aimed to not only increase awareness but also inspire a more robust engagement from Colombian HEIs in European educational projects.

This webinar is just the beginning of ICETEX’s efforts as the national focal point. With ongoing promotional activities, ICETEX is poised to strengthen Colombia’s ties with the Erasmus+ program, ensuring that students, faculty, and institutions can make the most of the opportunities available to them. Through initiatives like this, ICETEX is playing a crucial role in advancing global partnerships and educational mobility between Colombia and the European Union.

Stay tuned for more updates on Erasmus+ events and activities in Colombia, as we continue to expand and deepen our involvement in the Erasmus+ program, bringing new possibilities to the Colombian higher education community.
