On 18–19 June 2026, the African Students and Alumni Forum (ASAF) held its Annual Public Conference and 6th Annual General Forum (AGF) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The two-day event brought together ASAF members, alumni, students, partners and stakeholders from across Africa to exchange experiences, strengthen professional networks and contribute to discussions on the future of education, mobility and collaboration on the continent.
Annual Public Conference
Held at the Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the Annual Public Conference focused on the theme "Africa's Digital Future: Empowering Youth, Stimulating Innovation and Promoting Knowledge Mobility". The programme featured presentations on ASAF's history, achievements and future prospects, discussions on the role of young people in driving Africa's digital transformation, and sessions highlighting scholarship opportunities offered through Erasmus+ and other international programmes. Participants also heard alumni testimonials and explored projects led by ASAF members through the ASAF Project Fair.
Annual General Forum
The 6th Annual General Forum, held at the AZALAÏ Hôtel in Abidjan, focused on ASAF's governance, activities and long-term development. Members reviewed the organisation's structure, achievements and ongoing initiatives, including updates on Expression of Interest projects and the launch of the new ASAF website. The forum also featured the presentation of the ASAF Board Activity Report, providing an overview of key activities and progress achieved since the previous forum.
Advancing ASAF’s vision 2030
A key highlight of the AGF was the presentation of ASAF Future 2026–2030 (Vision 2030), which outlined priorities for the network's future development. Through breakout sessions and plenary discussions, participants explored ways to strengthen institutional development, community engagement, partnerships, visibility and organisational effectiveness, helping to shape ASAF's strategic direction for the coming years.
Strengthening the ASAF network
The Annual Public Conference and General Forum reaffirmed ASAF's commitment to promoting education, international mobility, leadership development and cross-border collaboration. The events strengthened connections within the network and supported knowledge-sharing, cooperation and community-building across the continent and beyond.
