OCEANS Community Development team benefits greatly from the commitment and professionalism of its volunteers.
The team is responsible for:
- supporting OCEANS events, networking activities and membership and volunteer training sessions
- engaging with members to understand their needs and providing the required support
- connecting with universities and other organisations to recruit new members
- collaborating with the board to organise the Annual General Meeting.

Head of team
Bennittes Kipyegon George
Kenya
Bennittes Kipyegon George is the Head of the OCEANS Community Development team. He is an environmental scientist, climate advocate, and youth leader from Kenya. He holds an MSc in Environmental Studies, with an academic exchange at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Germany.
Bennittes works with communities to implement nature-based solutions, agroecology, and climate adaptation strategies, including land restoration for land degradation neutrality, while engaging in global dialogues to advance youth participation in climate action and sustainable development.
In the OCEANS Network, he promotes Erasmus+ opportunities and EU-funded initiatives for young people and grassroots organisations in Africa. He is also the founder and director of the Plus One Tree Initiative, a youth-led network focused on climate action, land restoration, and sustainable food systems.
