OVERVIEW
The two-day online TAM focused on strengthening understanding of the role of artificial intelligence in higher education in Kyrgyzstan. Delivered via Zoom with simultaneous interpretation, the programme combined keynote presentations, live demonstrations of AI tools, interactive exercises using digital platforms, and extended Q&A sessions. The first day addressed AI governance, ethical considerations, institutional policy models, and pedagogical opportunities, complemented by European case studies illustrating successful AI integration.
The second day explored advanced applications of AI in assessment, research workflows, and academic collaboration. Participants reflected on redesigning assessment systems in AI-rich environments and discussed how AI can support inclusive, student-centred learning. Moderated reflection sessions enabled participants to synthesise insights and formulate preliminary recommendations for universities and policymakers, laying the groundwork for coordinated national follow-up.
THE FOLLOW UP ACTIVITY
Title of the activity: From Insight to Action – Applying TAM Outcomes on AI in Kyrgyz Higher Education
Dates: 10 April 2025
Audience: 20 participants, including representatives from Kyrgyz universities, the Ministry of Education and Science, and other higher education reform stakeholders (students, employers, and partners).
Description: The follow-up workshop aimed to translate the outcomes of the TAM seminar into concrete institutional and national actions. Participants worked collaboratively to develop six-month institutional action plans identifying priority AI pilots, budgets, timelines, and monitoring indicators. In parallel, a commitment communiqué was drafted to capture the current status of AI adoption in Kyrgyz higher education, consolidate key recommendations, and assign responsibilities and reporting timelines. The outputs are intended to inform national policy development and support the integration of AI into higher education strategies.
ENHANCING IMPACT: PROPOSED NEXT STEPS
- Develop a national strategy and ethical framework for artificial intelligence in higher education aligned with European standards.
- Strengthen faculty capacity-building through structured professional development on AI literacy, pedagogy, and assessment.
- Invest in digital infrastructure and shared resources to support scalable AI applications across universities.
- Update accreditation and quality assurance mechanisms to enable timely approval of AI-enhanced programmes and courses.
- Promote institutional coordination units or communities of practice to support responsible and strategic AI implementation.
