ASAF Governance
ASAF is governed by a coordinating board and thematic task forces that guide its strategic direction, activities, and representation. This governance framework ensures democratic participation, transparency, and inclusive decision‑making across its global alumni community.
Statutes and Rules of Procedure
The structure and governance of ASAF follow the principles of democratic representation, while reflecting the diversity of ASAF’s membership in terms of gender, geographic origin, mobility programme, culture, and language. ASAF has a set of statutes and rules of procedure that safeguard democratic decision‑making processes, while incorporating and respecting the needs of underrepresented groups within the Forum.
ASAF Statutes
The ASAF Statutes set out the legal and organisational framework of ASAF, including its purpose, structure, membership rules, decision‑making processes, governing bodies, and the rules under which it operates.
The ASAF Statutes was adopted by all members during a meeting followed by online voting from August 27th to August 30th, 2022. They became effective upon publication on August 30th, 2022.
ASAF Rules of Procedure
The ASAF Rules of Procedure are the second‑level governance document, sitting just below the Statutes. While the Statutes establish what ASAF is and its core legal framework, the Rules of Procedure explain how ASAF functions in practice.
ASAF Rules of Procedures (EN, FR) have been adopted by all ASAF members during a meeting of members and the following online voting from September 3rd till September 6th 2024. These Rules of Procedure entered into force with the publication on October 11th 2024.

2024-2026 ASAF Board
The current Board’s term began on 14 December 2024, following the completion of elections on 12 November 2024, and will conclude on 13 December 2026. Meet the current Board members and Task Force Liaison Officers:

ASAF President and Vice-President
The President and Vice‑Presidents represent ASAF on continental and global platforms, including in its engagement with the European Union and the African Union.
ASAF Task Forces
ASAF Task Forces are executive bodies that support the Board by leading specific thematic and operational work. Coordinated by the ASAF Board, each Task Force is supported by a dedicated Liaison Officer who acts as the main point of contact for delivering ASAF’s priorities.
