The African Students and Alumni Forum (ASAF) is a regional network of students, alumni and professionals who have benefited from EU-funded international mobility. The forum creates a space for knowledge exchange, collaboration and personal development across Africa.
Vision and mission
ASAF’s mission is to strengthen quality education and global integration to support Africa’s sustainable development by bringing together alumni and stakeholders to promote mobility, strengthen skills, and contribute to educational policy.
History and background
The creation of ASAF was inspired by the Abidjan Declaration after the 4th Africa-Europe Youth Summit which took place in October 2017 in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire). Regional workshops held across Africa in 2019 helped define its identity, vision, and mission.
Governance
The ASAF Statutes set out the legal and organisational framework of ASAF, including its purpose, structure, membership rules, decision‑making processes, governing bodies, and the rules under which it operates.
The ASAF Statutes was adopted by all members during a meeting followed by online voting from August 27th to August 30th, 2022. They became effective upon publication on August 30th, 2022.
The ASAF Rules of Procedure are the second‑level governance document, sitting just below the Statutes. While the Statutes establish what ASAF is and its core legal framework, the Rules of Procedure explain how ASAF functions in practice.
ASAF Rules of Procedures (EN, FR) have been adopted by all ASAF members during a meeting of members and the following online voting from September 3rd till September 6th 2024. These Rules of Procedure entered into force with the publication on October 11th 2024.
