Chilekwa Kangwa holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Development Studies, with a strong research focus on socio-economic factors influencing development outcomes. Her academic expertise includes a qualitative thesis examining the impact of early child marriages on girl child education attainment in rural Zambia. This research deepened her understanding of the complex links between gender, education, and development, and instilled in her a passion for advocating for marginalised communities, particularly young girls and women.
Motivated to build on this foundation, she aims to further develop her knowledge and skills in a gender-related field through postgraduate studies, exploring the intersections of gender, education, and development. Professionally, she has worked with NGOs on projects promoting Reproductive Health Rights for young people, realising that empowering youth is crucial in addressing pressing challenges like poverty, inequality, and social injustice.
In 2018, Chilekwa participated in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme at Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. This experience broadened her academic horizons and strengthened her interest in international development perspectives.
