A series of bilingual outreach activities aimed at students, post-secondary institutions, and national education organisations has increased awareness in Canada’s higher education sector of Erasmus+ funding and mobility opportunities.
Information on current Erasmus+ calls was published in English and French on the EduCanada website, the Government of Canada’s official portal for international education and scholarship opportunities. The announcements highlighted Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarships for students and Erasmus+ funding opportunities for post-secondary institutions.
A bilingual announcement containing links to the relevant calls on the EU Funding and Tenders Portal was also shared with key national higher education organisations. These included the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada; Universities Canada, and Colleges and Institutes Canada. The organisations were invited to circulate the information through their respective institutional networks.
These outreach activities were complemented by direct support for Canadian students and institutions seeking further information about Erasmus+.
The promotional campaign prompted enquiries from students interested in Erasmus+ funded study and mobility opportunities in Europe, as well as from higher education institutions exploring possible participation in the programme.
Three additional post-secondary institutions from Alberta, Manitoba, and British Columbia contacted the Erasmus+ National Focal Point during the first three months of 2026. One institution, already involved in several Key Action 171 applications, requested a consultation meeting to discuss its future participation in Erasmus+ activities.
The outreach announcements and support activities were coordinated by Dr Anna K. Piotrowska, Ph.D., Erasmus+ National Focal Point for Canada and Senior Policy Advisor at Global Affairs Canada.
In her role as National Focal Point, Dr Piotrowska promotes Erasmus+ opportunities, responds to enquiries from prospective applicants, and supports stronger engagement between the programme and Canada’s higher education sector. Her work at Global Affairs Canada also contributes to the country’s international education and policy initiatives.
