Seventy participants from seven Honduran higher education institutions joined a virtual information session on the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) action on 5 May 2026. The session introduced participants to the action’s objectives, eligibility requirements, thematic priorities, funding opportunities, and proposal development process.
Participants represented a broad range of academic and administrative areas, including Civil Engineering, Postgraduate Studies, Humanities and Arts, Computer Science, Business Administration, Natural Sciences, and International Relations.
Dr Ricardo Matamoros, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), opened the session. He was followed by Dr Daniel Ventura, Regional Coordinator of the Erasmus+ National Focal Points for Latin America and the Caribbean, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional engagement with Erasmus+ opportunities.
The main presentation was delivered by Luisa Villamizar, Deputy Director for International Relations at the Colombian Association of Universities (ASCUN). She provided an overview of the CBHE action, explaining its objectives, thematic areas, eligibility conditions, funding framework, and the main elements to consider when preparing a project proposal.
Participants then had the opportunity to raise questions and seek clarification on the application process, partnership requirements, and other practical aspects of proposal development.
The session also featured examples from CBHE projects implemented in Colombia and Honduras. ASCUN presented the MIMIR Andino project, while UNAH shared its experience with the ICOLearn project. These presentations offered practical insights into project implementation, institutional cooperation, and the opportunities created through Erasmus+ partnerships.
