Background
The European Green Deal, launched by the European Commission in December 2019, aims to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, improving the well-being and health for all generations through reduced emissions, a clean circular economy, and preserved biodiversity. Meanwhile, the Global Gateway, introduced in December 2021, expands the EU’s connectivity and partnership initiatives on a global scale, emphasising smart, clean, and secure links in digital, energy, and transport sectors to foster sustainable development and international cooperation. By aligning these, the European Union effectively pursues both internal sustainability goals and global partnerships in line with its core values and high standards. The European Commission has also made it clear that education plays a vital enabling role in meeting the targets of both the European Green Deal and the Global Gateway. Through enhanced skills development, awareness-raising, and capacity-building, education systems can cultivate the green skills and global outlook necessary for individuals and organisations to drive sustainable transitions – be it in local communities or on the international stage.
In parallel, the Erasmus+ programme presents enhanced opportunities for cross-border mobility, capacity building, and partnerships to address global challenges, offering an ideal platform for educational institutions, youth organisations, and NGOs to collaborate and implement green projects with partners around the world.
Why this Webinar?
By exploring the intersections of these policy initiatives – namely, the European Green Deal’s environmental objectives, the Global Gateway’s focus on international partnerships, and Erasmus+ funding possibilities – participants can better grasp how to spearhead or join initiatives that contribute to global sustainability and development. Specifically, this webinar provides a dynamic space to learn how to align personal or organisational goals with EU strategies. It also helps participants discover available resources, exchange best practices, and build networks for implementing green projects that foster real-world impact.
